Brig o’ Doon

I spent most of my teenage years living in the Midwest USA.

As a Scottish kid by birth, I was intrigued by the film ‘Brigadoon’ starring Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse which seemed to be on constant rerun loops every couple of weeks.

The treatise was based on a mythical Scottish village that appeared every 100 years - but only for a day!

Well, I hate to tell all you doubters - such a place exists!

‘Brig a Doon’ as the village is properly titled appears any time you care to visit it. And it’s every bit as enchanting as the Gene Kelly version.

Brig a Doon is at the heart of Burns Country! It’s like Carnoustie . If it was on it’s own Brig a Doon . Let’s just say, we get two for the price of one.

Robert Burns constantly captured the beauty of his homeland in poetry and song and you too will be similarly enchanted by the timeless majesty of this gracious region.

One of the best visits is the Burns Museum and I hope my old friend Archie is still there to meet you.

Scotland’s Southwest offers medieval castles, stately homes and royal connections, all awaiting to enchant and inspire you.

As for golf, we continue to explore the ‘Scottish Road Less Traveled’ with a clutch of impeccable, authentic links along the breathtaking Ayrshire coast and no less than three Open Championship venues.
